Jute Twines
By definition, a Twine refers to a string of two or more strands twisted together; each strand can either be a thinner string or a single twisted yarn strand. Twine can be both natural as well as synthetic and the two main types of twine are:
Single Twisted: in which several strands are twisted in a particular direction and held together loosely.
Cable Twisted (also known as ply or folded): in which two or more strands after being twisted in one direction, are then combined and each strand or “ply” is then twisted in the opposite direction.
Natural twines are made not only from Jute but also Cotton, Flax, Hemp, Sisal and Silk. Common synthetic twines are Nylon, Polypropylene, Polyethylene (HDPE), Polyester (aslo known as Art Silk), Acrylic and several more.
Jute Twines are ideal for a wide variety of home and garden applications; whether it is for packaging, boxes, gifts or in the garden for binding plants, supporting vines, making straight lines for seeding rows, marking areas of the garden for certain plants, seed beds and much more.
Jute Twines are available in Natural as well as Dyed colors; the most in demand color is Moss Green which is also known as ‘Garden Green’ Twine.
Jute “Garden Green” Twine: is made from Dyed Yarn that comes from our mills near Kolkatta (Calcutta) in East India. It is easy to handle due to its soft texture and good knot holding capability.
Green Jute twine is ideal for gardening due to its good tying strength and due to the fact that its moss green color blends well with plants.

Natural Jute Twine: is mostly used in arts, crafts, parcel and other general purpose packaging.
The unit of measuring size or thickness of Jute Twines is pounds; the thicker the twine, the higher the poundage so for instance 10 lbs will be slightly thinner than 12 lbs.
Our Jute Yarn and Twines are available in 1/2/3/4/5 ply twist in Natural as well as Dyed Green color and in three regular sizes namely:
- 1 ply x 10 lbs Natural
- 2 ply x 12 lbs Green
- 3 ply x 14 lbs Natural
Packing: Jute Twines come packed from the mills on large conical tubes, each tube contains approx 6-8 kg. of twine. These are the processed and made into smaller spools of 50 gm, 100 gm, 200 gm, 500gm up to 1.500 kg.
We can also offer made to order Jute Twines in ball/spool form, each piece shrink-wrapped with customized label/barcode and sticker placed on top for easy access to the twine inside.
